LED tv stands for light emitting diode television. An LED TV is an LCD TV with LED backlight, it is LED backlight are used to show the images on the LCD display. In conventional LCD TV CCFLs were used for showing the images.

Different from the conventional LCD TV because of the illumination technology used in it. LED TV uses LED backlight for illuminating the LCD DISPLAY because an LCD doesn’t have self illuminating capacity so the
The advantages of an LED TV are
1. LESS power consumption in comparison to LCD TV.
2. VERY HIGH CONTRAST Ratio in comparison to LCD TVs
3. SLIM size.
4. UNIFORM DISTRIBUTION of lightening
5. LONG LIFE in comparison to the LCDs

FEATURES THAT AN LED TV SHOULD HAVE
1. FULL HD 1080 PIXELS:
An LED TV should be full HD I. e. 1080 pixels. The images shown in the HD flat panels are sharp and crystal clear images. HD REDEFINES YOUR TV viewing experience. Pixels are the small dots which are used to create an image on printing paper from any printer or on TV screens, if you want to see pixels than you watch your TV screen closely you will see many vertical lines and tiny blocks, these tiny blocks are pixels. In HD TV SCREENS you will not find these blocks.
2. COLORS:
Colors adds vividness in the picture search for those LEDs which has more than 16 billion colors. More colors mean best picture quality. The best way to judge the color combination observe the BLACK COLOUR portion of the TV when the FLAT PANEL IS ON.If the black color is perfectly dark black then it is good and if there is some white effect or say little bit light black color then the colors are less than 16 billion. Check this thing on normal or balanced mode of picture adjustment.
3. HIGH CONTRAST RATIOS:
An LED TV must have a very high contrast ratio for example 100000:1 or some plasma tv has contrast ratio of  1000000:1.Higher contrast ratio means better brightness. It is necessary because in  daylight the brightness of the TV reduces due to high intensity so the image quality becomes dim there we need high contrast, so that over the viewing experience remains better in very high intensity.
4. USB FUNCTION:
The USB function allows user to watch movies or photos of the flat panels, by plugging in pendrive or mobile phone. It is an important function because today’s world is seeking for small and convenient modes of entertainment. It prevents you from buying expensive DVDs. Just download movies from the internet or borrow from friends and enjoy it.
5. HDMI PORTS:
HDMI stands for High Definition Media Interface, this port is used to connect the two HD MEDIA. This port offers very high speed and HD quality data transfer. You can watch HD MOVIES through this port. It is recommended that you use ONLY HDMI PORTS.
For watching the HD movies.
6. MULTIPLE VIDEO FORMAT SUPPORT:
An LED should support the multiple video format in very high quality like avi, mkv, mp4 h. 264, flv, wmv, mov etc. These are main video formats in which HD movies are available on the internet. So, before buying TV check whether it supports the above mentioned formats.
7. SOUND EFFECTS:
Without a better sound experience watching TV is boring. So, I would like to advice you prefer those LED TV which has SRS PREMIUM SOUND OR DOLBY diets SURROUND SOUND, this enhances your cinematic experience. The brands like SONY, SAMSUNG use these sound effects in their TV.
8. POWER CONSUMPTION MATTERS:
Choose that LED TV which is star rated. These star rated products are energy efficient and consumes less electricity, because no one wants to pay huge electric bills after the entertainment. Energy efficient products are best product so, next time when go to buy a TV or any other product search for STAR RATINGS. More STARS mean less electricity bills.
9. LIFE SPAN OF LED TV:
The life span of  an LED TV is judged by the hours of  LED lamp life, some brands mention this thing. Generally, LED TV have 8000 hours or 10000 hours or higher , it means that if you watch your tv daily  4 hours then after 6 years the contrast of your tv will decrease.
10. VIEWING ANGLE:
Viewing angle it is term most widely used and matter of concern in the flat panels world. The images on the flat panels are clearly visible when the viewer is in front of it, but as the viewer moves to left or right the images on the becomes unclear. VIEWING ANGLE is an angle at which the images on the flat panels are clearly visible. Viewing angle should be minimum 170 degrees and maximum 180 degrees. The best viewing angle is 180 degrees.
11.RESPONSE TIME
Response time is expressed in ms (milliseconds) for example 4ms or 12 ms or 20 ms.
Response time of LED TV SHOULD BE LESS THAN 5 ms.
Response time the simplest way to explain this term is the motion blur effect. For example, When a football is kicked by a player, the football is very fast moving then the LED TV having a higher response rate, it will show the football like comet which have which have tails.
So choose that  LED TV has less response time. Suppose there are two FLAT PANELS  One have the response time of  4ms and the second has 12 ms then you choose the first one.
12. REFRESH RATE
Refresh rate is the frequency at which the images change its position on flat panels. The refresh rate of the flat panels should be higher than 120 Hz it means that in one second images refreshes 120 times .Refresh rate is expressed in HERTZ (Hz). Refresh rate matters because in bigger size TV images need to change more and faster than the smaller size tv.
